Katie Taylor's 2023 blockbuster fight with Amanda Serrano at Croke Park could take place in early summer, according to the stadium's director Peter McKenna.Earlier this month the Bray boxer confirmed how her team is pushing for a rematch with Serrano at Croke Park, with that prospect moving a step closer after the Puerto Rican's promoter said she's willing to fight Taylor in Ireland.Dates in September and October 2023 had previously been floated for a re-run of the epic contest between the pair at Madison Square Garden last April. However, Croke Park stadium director McKenna has confirmed dates earlier in 2023 have instead been ringfenced for the potentially historic bout."We're looking at dates earlier in the year.

We're quite a way along the road in the talking with Brian Peters [Taylor's manager] and Matchroom [her promoter]," McKenna told RTÉ Radio's All Roads to Croker, a special programme reflecting on the last 12 months at Croke Park."It could be early summer - that's the time.

This is the type of event... that requires a number of moving parts. What we do is we say that we have these dates available, and this is how it would work from our perspective.

That job has been done. And now we need to make sure Matchroom, and Brian Peters can make all the other things come together."In November, Taylor's promoter Eddie Hearn said his company Matchroom needed assistance from Croke Park and the Irish government to make the fight happen on Jones' Road.McKenna said he believed the government remained supportive of the event."The Minister for Sport has been supportive but he's not, nor should he, write a blank cheque.
