Margate’s game at Cray Wanderers on Boxing Day was abandoned due to a serious injury. The Isthmian Premier game was deep into stoppage time when Cray’s Yahaya Bamba suffered a head injury.
The match was abandoned around 20 minutes later as they waited for an ambulance to take Bamba to hospital. Cray Wanderers said: “Following the serious nature of the injury to Yahya Bamba and the emergency care needed, the match has been abandoned. “All our thoughts are with Yahya Bamba who has been taken to hospital following lengthy medical treatment late in the game.
With thanks to the dedication of the two medical teams and to the paramedics assisting Yahya.” Margate posted: “We wish the player well and a further update will follow regarding the conclusion of today’s game.” The game was goalless with Margate playing the final half-hour with 10 men after defender Tyrone Sterling collected a second yellow card against his former club for a foul on Gary Lockyer.
