Borussia Monchengladbach sporting director Roland Virkus has played down their interest in Fabian Rieder - which could leave an opening for Celtic this summer.
The 21-year-old Swiss international midfielder has reportedly attracted admiring glances from manager Brendan Rodgers as he looks to build a squad capable of challenging in the Champions League next term - but the Bundesliga side appeared to be leading the race for the Young Boys midfielder.
However, the Gladbach appears to have been price out of a deal by the Bern outfit. The German outfit will reportedly have to sell before they can snap up highly-rated Rieder - leaving an opening for the Scottish Premiership champions to make their move.
Speaking to Sky Germany, Virkus confessed when asked about Rieder: "The transfer market is still moving very sluggishly at the moment.
