Celtic's second penalty leaves Motherwell boss 'baffled' after ref seminar

Stuart Kettlewell was “baffled” by Celtic’s second penalty and says a refereeing seminar pointed out why a similar situation shouldn’t result in a spot-kick.

Motherwell were penalised for a tug on Mikey Johnston’s shirt by Calum Butcher in 84 minutes, which saw David Turnbull give them the lead.

Goalkeeper Liam Kelly had saved a 66th-minute penalty from Luis Palma after Bevis Mugabi was judged to have fouled Oh. Jon Obika levelled for Motherwell just minutes after Turnbull’s strike, but the awarding of the later penalty irked Kettlewell.

And he says there might have been a case for Greg Taylor being shown a red card on a VAR intervention for a foul on Blair Spittal in 70 minutes that left the winger with a nasty gash on his leg.
