Celtic fans have been told they must get their banners for the Champions League clash with Lazio "pre-approved" by the club.

The Hoops copped a €23,400 fine for letting off flares in the Euro showdown with Feyenoord in De Kuip before UEFA once again punished the Scottish Premiership champions for their use of pyro as well as their "offensive" banner display before their eventual 2-1 defeat to the Italian giants at Celtic Park.

The club were fined €3,500 for the fireworks and €20,000 over the banner that was unveiled by the Green Brigade. Since then the club have banned the ultras group with their season tickets suspended - and Celtic Supporter Liason Officer John-Paul Taylor has now confirmed that all flags and banners need to be pre-approved before the clash with the Serie A side in Rome.

Writing to X, he said: "We have been advised that flags, banners and drums require to be pre approved ahead of Tuesday's match. "Fans wishing to take any of these items to the Stadium should send an image entitled 'Lazio Banner Request' to jptaylor@celticfc.co.uk no later than 5pm Thursday please." The game is a must-win for Brendan Rodgers side as they look to continue their European adventure into the new year.

ROME: Ciro Immobile shot Lazio to the verge of qualification for the last 16 of the Champions League with a late brace in Tuesday’s 2-0 win over eliminated Celtic.
