Celtic are going to market in the January window, and Brendan Rodgers' rallying cry is 'quality' over quantity. And while the winter window is famously a tough gig for gaffers across the globe, Celtic can look fondly on January coups gone by with the likes of Kyogo, Reo Hatate and Matt O'Riley headlining recent transfer deals in the New Year.
Rodgers tore strips off the current squad after a flat showing in Perth but did see the fruits of his labour with fringe stars such as Mikey Johnston and James Forrest coming on to save the day.
But there's no doubt the Irishman is missing depth in a few key areas as he continues on the trajectory of aiming to retain the Scottish Premiership.
Despite the choppy waters of January being considered, there have been a few left-field names linked from Europe. Those touted for a move include son of Hoops hero Pierre van Hooijdonk, Sydney, while Estoril's Tiago Araujo is in the frame.
