ANDY NEWPORT: It’s simply too early to tell how Rangers are going to gel after bringing in so many new faces this summer.

Celtic, on the other hand, may have lost Jota but they still have the majority of the main men that took them to the Treble last year and rightly deserve the favourites tag. CRAIG SWAN:Celtic are the team to beat and, if they maintain their levels of last season, they’ll win it again. FRASER: Celtic.

Brendan Rodgers has a Treble-winning group at his disposal and even the loss of Jota won’t disturb their rhythm if Kyogo, Maeda and Abada stay fit.

Rangers will make a decent fist of it but, despite the raft of new arrivals, they still don’t look as strong as the Hoops at the back or up top where it matters. ANDY: I’ve been worried about St Johnstone all summer given the lack of new arrivals to replace the dozen players or so they let go last season.

DAVID McCARTHY:Celtic's need would appear to be greater as they have major defensive injury problems. I can see them bringing in a first team-ready centre back. Rangers will try to bring in a wide man but have plenty in the forward areas, even if they haven't impressed too much yet. ANDY NEWPORT:Michael Beale says he’s looking for someone in the Ryan Kent mould but those don’t come cheap so I suspect that kind of move will depend on Gers reaching the Champions League. Celtic are looking light defensively and I can see them bringing in extra cover, even if it’s only a loan. GORDON PARKS: Celtic will need to bring in some quality defensive cover and you can expect a few new faces but Rangers have already thrown the kitchen sink at their revamp but a natural right sided winger wouldn't go amiss. FRASER WILSON: Celtic must get another defender in but I’d also expect Brendan Rodgers to be on the lookout for another striker to add to Kyogo and Oh. Michael Beale has already said the one last thing he’s missing is a Ryan Kent type. Whether he can find his man at the right price is another matter.
CRAIG SWAN: Rangers face a tougher test this time around with PSV appearing stronger. It’s a 50-50 tie. MICHAEL GANNON: PSV look stronger than last season but they will be under severe pressure. This could be a game that suits Rangers, so there’s every chance they could bump the Dutchmen out again. SCOTT BURNS: PSV Eindhoven will certainly be hurting from last season. Rangers could see them off again but Michael Beale’s new-look side will have to go right up the levels. Some of the new signings would need to be at their best over these next two games.
