It's been 15 years since MS Dhoni first donned the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) jersey in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Over the years, the former India captain has established himself as a true great of the game.

Not just with his batting as a finisher or his wicket-keeping, but Dhoni made a name for himself as a master tactician. CSK will take on Rajasthan Royals (RR) later on Wednesday, which will Dhoni's 200th game as captain of the franchise.

Ahead of the match, batting great Sunil Gavaskar has said that Dhoni should promote himself in the batting order as he can still make a difference with his explosive batting. "I am hoping MS Dhoni promotes himself higher in the batting order.

So that he gets to play more than two or three overs in the games. He can make that difference for CSK with his batting because he is capable of scoring big runs," Gavaskar said Star Sports, Cricket Live Show.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) recently announced the Indian squad for the World Test Championship final against Australia, to be played in the second week of June in England. The return of Ajinkya Rahane in the Test fold was the biggest news. Former India captain Sunil Gavaskar was pleased with the squad. However, he had one question regarding the wicketkeeper's position. It is worth noting that India's regular wicketkeeper in Test cricket, Rishabh Pant, is out of action since a horrific car crash he met with in December last year. In the southpaw's absence during the Border-Gavaskar Trophy in February-March, it was Bharat who kept wickets for India while Rahul was dropped following his poor returns in the first two Tests of the four-match series.
Chennai Super Kings batter Ambati Rayudu has strongly reacted to some reports linking one of his tweets as a response to what the great Sunil Gavaskar said during commentary for the IPL 2023 match between CCSK and Rajasthan Royals. "You got to field. You can't just come out to bat and start hitting the ball. You can't do that. We have seen that with Prithvi Shaw. He has just been coming out to bat without success. No fielding, no scoring. Rayudu is out for a second-ball duck," Gavaskar said on air.
Chennai Super Kings might have failed in their run-chase against Rajasthan Royals but head coach Stephen Fleming said they didn't feel the need to change the batting order as they "don't mess with things that are going well". Set a target of 203, CSK managed 170 for six to suffer a 32-run loss, their third defeat in eight matches this IPL season. Asked if CSK could have sent some of their big-hitters up the order, Fleming said: "The set roles are very important. (Ajinkya) Rahane has been great for us at No. 3. We don't mess with things that are going well.
