Cardiff City remain rooted to the bottom of the Championship table after a derby-day draw at Bristol City. Interim boss Omer Riza looked like he was on his way to managing back-to-back victories after Ollie Tanner smashed home a stunner in the second half at Ashton Gate.

But a fabulous header from Luke McNally ensured the Bluebirds remain with only one win from their opening nine matches and are kept bottom of the table on goal difference.

The hosts shot out of the traps and drew Jak Alnwick into action twice early doors. Sinclair Armstrong got the better of Dimitrios Goutas on two occasions and both chances resulted in low, driven efforts towards the far post, but Alnwick was equal to both of them.

Cardiff, by contrast, looked all at sea in the early exchanges. Passes made down the wrong path, players on different wavelengths with regards to runs in behind, it all made for frustrating viewing for Bluebirds supporters.
