There is rush hour chaos this evening with emergency services at the scene of an ongoing incident on a busy main road in Rochdale.

There is a heavy police presence, along with paramedics, at the scene on the A671 Oldham Road near Rochdale town centre, at the junction with the bypass.

Pictures and video from the scene show police and ambulances arriving on blue lights with congestion continuing to build in the area.

Live traffic service Inrix says the road is 'blocked in both directions' with 'heavy traffic' due to the ongoing incident. Greater Manchester Police and the North West Ambulance Service have been contacted for further details. This is a breaking incident.
