Benjamin Mendy told a woman that he’d had sex with 10,000 women after allegedly raping her, a jury heard. The French footballer, 28, denies raping the woman at his Cheshire mansion in October 2020 and is currently on trial.

He also denies an allegation made by a second woman, who claims that he tried to rape her two years earlier. Jurors at Chester Crown Court have heard that Mr Mendy was acquitted of other sexual allegations at a previous trial. On the third day of evidence, the jury heard evidence from Woman Two, who claims that Mr Mendy, who was a Manchester City player at the time of the allegation, raped her after she met him during a night out in Cheshire.

During the evening, she messaged a friend and said: "Bro, we are sat with footballers. Jesus. Jesse Lingard is here. I am not ok.

Haha. Footballer for the winter?" She and others were invited back to Mr Mendy’s home, the jury heard. Prosecutors have claimed that those invited to Mr Mendy’s house in Prestbury were asked to hand over their phones to ‘protect’ him from unwanted social media intrusion, and any difficulties over breaking covid restrictions’.
