Bayern Munich goalkeeper Yann Sommer suggested that the recent change in manager had a part to play in the club’s heavy 3-0 defeat by Manchester City in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final tie.
Thomas Tuchel was overseeing his first Champions League game as Bayern boss against the manager he beat in the 2021 final while at Chelsea.
Tuchel replaced Julian Nagelsmann at the end of last month, having managed just three games before the trip to the Etihad. Sommer joined the German champions from Borussia Monchengladbach in January upon the long-term absence of Manuel Neuer following his leg fracture while skiing in December.
He made a number of good saves against City, keeping the score to a respectable total.
