Manchester City forward Jack Grealish has taken aim at TV pundits who criticise him for keeping hold of the ball for long periods of time in matches.

Grealish has enjoyed a good return to form in the 2022/23 campaign, especially after the Qatar World Cup. So far, the 27-year-old has five goals and 11 assists to his name and has admitted he is enjoying his football again.

However, he is not immune to criticism from those who sit in the studios on a matchday. In an interview with the Daily Mail, Grealish explained how he has been exasperated with some of his critics at both City and Aston Villa. "It’s as if they never played bad themselves.

Graeme [Souness] was an unbelievable player but he used to say I held on to the ball too long. "I was like: 'Mate, I play for Aston Villa.' A lot of the time we didn’t have the ball so when we did the manager told me to keep it. "It’s the same here.
