Antonio Conte names Manchester United example when asked about Tottenham Hotspur transfers

After making six summer signings in this summer's transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur boss Antonio Conte has told fans not to necessarily expect a title challenge despite a successful window.

He has referred to Manchester United's window last summer, where they signed Rafael Varane, Jadon Sancho and Cristiano Ronaldo before falling four places in the Premier League and failing to qualify for the Champions League as a warning for people not to necessarily expect success based on transfer business.

Spurs have brought in Yves Bissouma, Ivan Perisic, Djed Spence, Clement Lenglet, Richarlison and Fraser Forster this summer for a combined £94 million, with three transfers coming in on a free.

Conte reportedly demanded the club made changes to the club's transfer policy in order to achieve success in the future.
