Andy Cole outlines Mason Mount hope for new Manchester United season after Chelsea transfer

Andy Cole believes the signing of Mason Mount is a positive one for Manchester United and hopes the midfielder can play his part in taking the Reds back closer to the top.

Mount has become United's first signing of the summer transfer window. He has penned a five-year deal with the option of a further 12 months following his move from Chelsea.

United had to be patient to land the 24-year-old England international after the Stamford Bridge side aimed to secure the biggest fee possible for a player who was out of contract in 2024.

Eventually after a couple of bids were turned down by Chelsea, an initial fee of £55m plus an extra £5m in performance-related add-ons was agreed.
