Áine O'Gorman first signing for Shamrock Rovers WNL side

Áine O'Gorman has been confirmed as Shamrock Rovers' first signing ahead of their return to the SSE Airtricity Women's National League.O'Gorman confirmed her departure from former club Peamount - where she won two league titles - earlier this week and her widely rumoured move to Tallaght Stadium has now been confirmed.The Wicklow native is vastly experienced having earned 114 caps for Ireland, and she played in the recent play-off against Scotland as the Girls in Green secured a place at a first World Cup finals."I have had a great few years at Peamount, they have done a lot for women's football and for me personally throughout my career for which I am very thankful," O'Gorman said."Signing for Shamrock Rovers is an opportunity that I couldn’t turn down and I’m really looking forward to the new challenge.

I am delighted to be joining such a big club, one that is putting the structures in place for the long-term growth and development of women’s football in Ireland."Rovers will be managed by Collie O'Neill, who led UCD's men's side to the First Division title in 2018 and a mini-run in the Europa League in 2015.
