AFN unveils Team Nigeria August 5, secures Italy camp for athletes

Nigeria’s Men 4×100m relay team qualified for the event in Asaba during the Warri Gland Prix last week to take to four the number of relay events the country will participate in at the World Championships.United States-based sprinter, Godson Brume, told The Guardian in a telephone chat that the Athletics Federation of Nigeria (AFN) has decided that they would converge in Italy for seven days to enable them practice more on their baton exchange before the World Championships.“I will be returning to the United States to continue with my training before we converge on the training camp in Italy from August 11.

It is a good move because the training camp will enable us perfect our baton exchange. I am looking forward to a great performance in Budapest,” Brume stated.The AFN is expected to unveil the list of Team Nigeria’s athletes for the World Championships before August 5.

AFN president, Tonobok Okowa, noted that the list would have been made known earlier but for the late qualification of the nation’s 4x100m relay team.Okowa stated that by this week, after his meeting with the Sports Ministry and the AFN board, Nigerians would see athletes that will represent them in Budapest.Follow Us
