Republic of Ireland international Aaron Connolly is set to remain sidelined by injury with the on-loan Hull City forward a significant doubt for this weekend's Championship action. The Galway native joined the Tigers on loan from parent club Brighton in January after a previous temporary spell in Italy's Serie B with Venezia was cut short.Connolly, who has won eight Ireland senior caps under Mick McCarthy and Stephen Kenny, had shown an upturn in form since joining Hull, featuring regularly. At the end of January, he scored twice against QPR, marking his 23rd birthday in style. But Connolly picked up a foot injury last Saturday against Stoke City - his fifth appearance of the Championship season - which led to his withdrawal and he subsequently missed Hull's defeat to Norwich on Tuesday.Hull head coach Liam Rosenior confirmed that the former Middlesbrough loanee is unlikely to feature on Saturday when they face a Preston side who had Ireland striker Troy Parrott on the scoresheet via the penalty spot on Wednesday night."Aaron's had a scan, and unfortunately for us, it doesn't look great.

I'm not saying (he's out for) too long, but he's a real doubt for Saturday," Rosenior told the Hull Daily Mail.Connolly will hope to play his way back into Ireland contention.
