A major road just inside Wales' border with England has been closed in both directions as a result of a road traffic collision late on Saturday night (March 18).Police are at the scene and say the A438 between Clyro and Rhydspence is impassable.

Motorists are being asked to find an alternative route.A tweet from Powys Roads Policing at 10.07pm said: "ROAD CLOSED. We are currently dealing with a collision on the A438 between Clyro and Rhydspence.

The road is impassable. Please find an alternative route."Roads and traffic monitoring service Inrix reported the incident at 10.12pm.

An update at 11.39pm said: "A438 in both directions closed due to accident from the Rhydspence Inn (Rhydspence) to B4351 (Hay-on-Wye turn-off, Clyro)." This is an unfolding incident.
