Why Jose Mourinho could face further punishment after Fenerbahce red card vs Man United

Former Manchester United manager Jose Mourinho could face a further sanction after being sent off during Thursday's 1-1 draw with Fenerbahce.

The Portuguese tactician was shown a straight red card by referee Clement Turpin for his reaction to Bright Asayi-Samuel's penalty claim midway through the second-half. Mourinho was forced to watch on from the stands as his side earned a point against his former club.

It was a third successive draw for United as they once again squandered a lead in Europe. Christian Eriksen fired the visitors in front before Youssef En-Nesyri restored parity, just four minutes into the second-half, as their struggles continued following ties against FC Twente and Porto.

Mourinho took up his seat in the stands but has been alleged to have been dishing instructions to his bench following his dismissal and passing on written tactical instructions. The action is something that governing body, UEFA, has forbidden in their rules.

In a post from a Galatasaray fan account, rivals to the Turkish club, they claimed: "Jose Mourinho, who was sent to the stands with a red card in the Manchester match, was seen continuing to give tactics in the stands. A big punishment awaits Jose Mourinho for this situation, which is a crime according to UEFA's instructions."
