Back-to-back Moto2 races brings Sam Lowes straight to Argentina this weekend as the Elf Marc VDS rider looks to build on his Portuguese comeback.
Termas de Rio Hondo was the scene of Lowes’ pole to podium run in 2016, backing up a third place from the previous year to go one better next time around. After overhauling a challenging start to 2023’s inaugural race, which saw him battle back from 18th to seventh, the Brit is looking to reclaim his podium stature at the 4.8km track for round two.
“Being as fast and consistent as I was in Portugal last weekend really gave me a big confidence boost, and now I can’t wait to get to Argentina,” Lowes said ahead of the second weekend of competition. “I just want to keep the ball rolling, so when we get back to Europe next month, I’m in good shape in terms of the World Championship.
“Termas is a track that I really enjoy, and I’ve been able to be fast in qualifying and in the races before, so I go there with a lot of motivation to be back at the front again.
“Portimao showed what a good job we have done with the bike this winter, and with the base setting we now have I am sure we can be strong in every race. The weather looks like it is going to be good, and I love racing in Argentina. The fans are really passionate, and I can’t wait to put on a good show for them.”
