LIVE: Major search for missing man at Dovestone Reservoir enters second day - latest updates

A major search for a missing man at Dovestone Reservoir has entered its second day today (Monday).

A huge emergency response descended on the beauty spot in Oldham yesterday afternoon after receiving reports of a man and woman in the water. The M.E.N understands the pair, believed to both be in their late 20s, entered the water after falling off a paddleboard.

The man reportedly got into difficulty in the water while the woman was rescued and treated for hypothermia and shock. A search was then launched for the man by specialist divers and rescue teams.

Throughout the afternoon and evening yesterday, rescue units were spotted in boats as they scoured the water. Fire service crews as well as members of specialist diving teams could be seen parked up in attendance on blue lights near to the sailing club.

Last night, at around 7.35pm, Greater Manchester Police said underwater teams would continue their search at the reservoir overnight. This morning, a spokesperson for the force confirmed that there had sadly been no updates in the search overnight.

Searches are continuing today. People are being urged to keep away from the area as crews continue their work.
