Zwane frustrated as Chiefs suffer defeat against Chippa: 'We beat ourselves'

Kaizer Chiefs suffered their first home defeat in the DStv Premiership this season, succumbing to a 2-1 defeat to Chippa United at the Moses Mabhida Stadium on Saturday evening. 

The defeat was their fourth of the season and denied Zwane's side the opportunity to climb to the top of the DStv Premiership standings. Zwane was left frustrated at his side's poor start to the game and was left to rue the missed chances.  

"I think we started very sluggish," Zwane told reporters. 

"I think our first attempted shot at goal was just after 29 minutes. We were just going through the motions and we did not look like a team that wanted to capitalise and take the game to the opposition while playing at home." 

Despite taking a late first half lead, Zwane says he had to lift the spirits of his side during the interval. 

"I had to lift the boys up at half-time. In the second half we were supposed to do much better than the first half. The game was evenly balanced, we could have got the second goal to kill the game off.

"I thought that the (first) goal would lift us up and take us back into the game, dictate terms and take control but we were still playing in patches."

After Chippa equalised after the interval, Amakhosi still created the better chances and should have put the game to bed. However, it was not to be as Zwane was once again left frustrated with his side's wastefulness in front of goal.

''We had about four clear-cut chances, such as one on ones with Keagan (Dolly), Caleb (Bimenyimana) Reeve (Frosler) and Khama (Billiat) also.  

"We made a lot of mistakes at the back but those four chances, if we buried two, we win the game but it wasn't to be and we only have ourselves to blame. My job as coach is to lift the spirit of the boys and
