Zlatan to Malmo remains a possibility

In the year 2001, and after four good years at Swedish side Malmo, Zlatan Ibrahimovic made his first move abroad, joining Ajax in an 8.2 million Euro transfer. It has been a rollercoaster for the talented and controversial forward ever since, playing for some of the biggest clubs in the world while retaining his iconic adoration at his boyhood team. However, 23 years later, this swansong is coming to an end soon, and a return to Malmo for a nostalgic reunion is not out of the question. This is even after some questions were raised as Ibrahimovic invested in a rival club earlier, and made comments that didn’t go down well with Malmo supporters.

At the top At 41 years, Zlatan is still playing at the topmost level, currently with Italian giants AC Milan, though his time at the club has been marred by injuries. His earlier attempt to return to international football was also deterred by injury but any time he has been fit, the Swede has always shown he has the potential to compete with the younger folks, at the highest level. Most of the players Ibrahimovic played with, or against, are now retired and forgotten.

Some have gone into management, but the Malmo legend is still doing his thing at the top most level. Having had stints in France, England, Spain and Italy, a final bow for his boyhood club, in the Swedish league, seems the next possible destination.
