Zinedine Zidane Man United preference offered for Ineos as Erik ten Hag has 7 games to save job

Zinedine Zidane has been once again linked with the Manchester United job as Erik ten Hag clings on to his job.

Ten Hag is under ongoing pressure after the club's worst-ever start to a Premier League season. United's struggles under Ten Hag follow last season's eighth-placed finish - their lowest since 1990. Ten Hag has survived the October international break so far, but United could make a change if things do not improve by the next break in November.

It was reported - earlier this year - by Foot Mercato that co-owner Sir Jim Ratcliffe and his Ineos group wanted to bring Zidane to Old Trafford. These claims quietened after Ten Hag was backed this summer, albeit unconvincingly, by the club's board who handed the Dutchman a contract extension.

But results haven't improved, with the former Ajax manager finding himself under pressure again. It was thought that a decision to replace the Dutchman might have been made last week, after a board meeting in London held between senior United board members.

However, Ten Hag looks set to be in charge for Saturday afternoon's clash against Brentford. Nevertheless, there are still question marks around his long-term future at M16, with seven vital matches to come before November's international break.
