Zamalek continue perfect run, beat Botswana’s Spiking Stars 3-0
Defending champions, Zamalek of Egypt, continued their dominance of the ongoing Abuja 2025 African Women’s Inter-Club Volleyball Championship, yesterday, with a flawless 3-0 (25-8, 25-14, 25-11) victory over Spiking Stars of Botswana. This win gave the Egyptians a 100 per cent record in Pool B.
From the onset of the match at the Multipurpose Hall of the Moshood Abiola Stadium, Abuja, Zamalek attacked with purpose and led 8-2 within a few minutes. Powerful hits and monster blocks gave Zamalek a 25-18 lead after the first set.
In the second set, they took the first point, just as a number of errors by Sporting Spikers gave them a firm grip of the game. Zamalek won the second set 25-14.
The third set was not different from the earlier rounds as Zamalek maintained the pressure on their hapless opponents, who surrendered the set and the game 25-11.
