You can try hundreds of new wines this weekend at Manchester’s most exciting new food and music venue

A wine festival featuring a wealth of wines from around the world is happening this weekend. The Manchester Food and Drink Festival’s ‘Wine Fest’ happens at New Century on October 7 and 8.

As well as wine-tasting, there will be loads of other great activities going on, from painting workshops to tutored wine-tastings. The festival will take place in the stunning, recently reopened concert hall room on the building’s first floor.

Among those bringing along wines to try will be the likes of Cork of the North, Grape to Grain, Italy Abroad, That Wine Cellar, Sip Wine Bar, Ad-Hoc, Central Wines, Le-Social, Suppher and UkiYo Republic. There will also be food market stalls from Ancoats Coffee, Mello.Haus, Trafford Horticulture, MFDF Award-winner Dormouse Chocolates and Caroline Dowsett.

On the Friday evening - October 7 - there will be a flower arranging from Bah Florals, a tasting hosted by Cork of the North, and a tutorial on ‘extreme Italian wines’ from Italy Abroad.

Then on the Saturday there’s a ‘sip and paint’ pop-up held by Cork and Canvas, and more tutored wine tastings throughout the day. You will also be able to head downstairs at New Century to eat during the festival hours.

Among the food traders in the new food hall are the likes of Wild by Ply, dishing out quality pizza, Zumuku Sushi, Bao Bros 23, vegan Vietnamese food from Bahn Vi and steak and burger joint Tallow.

Tickets for the event cost £15, and you can grab them through the MFDF website.
