'You can't say no' - Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella responds to Man City transfer links

Brighton left-back Marc Cucurella has refused to rule out a summer transfer to Manchester City, but has denied any contact with Pep Guardiola over a potential move.

Cucurella has been linked with City as they look to strengthen their defence this summer, with left-back an ongoing issue. Joao Cancelo has been first choice on his weaker side when everyone is fit, with Aleks Zinchenko deputising well as he so often does, and Nathan Ake also providing cover.

But with Benjamin Mendy suspended by the club, City lack a natural left-back and may enter the market for a specialist in that position. In recent reports, Cucurella has been named as a potential option to boost the defence after a solid season at Brighton.

Now, Cucurella, 23, has been asked directly about those rumours and the Spaniard admitted it would be hard to turn down City if they registered an interest.

However, speaking to Jijantes, Cucurella said there has been no contact with City or manager Guardiola so far.

"The goal [at Brighton] was to develop so the big clubs can take notice," he said.

"But if the opportunity arises, you have to take advantage of it. There are teams that you can’t say no to. No, sincerely no [Pep Guardiola has not called]. Of course, there are rumours.

"If people are talking like this about you, it's a good thing. We're calm; the most important thing right now is to rest."
