'You can never' - Kevin Phillips sends West Brom instruction amid one glaring issue

Former West Brom striker Kevin Phillips says the club will have "no chance" of reaching the play-offs if they give up hope before the season is out.

Albion currently sit 12th in the Championship table, six places and eight points outside the play-offs. Steve Bruce 's men are unbeaten in their last four but are struggling for consistency.

Phillips has questioned why his former club would "all of a sudden" pick up their form in the last eight games. He is, though, refusing to allow the Baggies to give up hope.

“As much as I would like to see it, there has been that inconsistency, so why all of a sudden would they pick it up in the final games,” Phillips told West Brom News. “When you’re chasing, the pressure is on, it’s very difficult.

"Beating Fulham and then scoring that late equaliser (at Bristol City), there is always a chance, but you’re relying on other people to drop points. When you get to this stage of the season, it becomes very difficult.

“I would say it’s probably a big task to get into the play-offs, but you can never give up hope. If you do give up hope, you’ve got no chance.”
