Yanhan Zhou launches 514-yard drive in DP World Tour event - ESPN

Yanhan Zhou, an 18-year-old on the DP World Tour, smashed a 514-yard drive Saturday during the third round of the Danish Golf Championship, according to shot tracing data provided by the tour.

Zhou launched his long drive on the 598-yard par-5 fifth hole at Great Northern in Kerteminde, Denmark.

According to the DP World Tour's official website, Zhou's shot sailed right of the fairway on the downhill hole, which has a long cart path on its right side.

There was no known video of the drive, but Golfweek reported that Zhou got some assistance from the cart path along the way to his astonishing shot.

Zhou ultimately birdied the hole, tapping in from 2 feet after hitting a 104-yard approach on his second shot and missing a 29-foot eagle putt. He entered the final round in contention to win the tournament but struggled to a 1-over 73 on Sunday to finish in a five-way tie for second place at 12 under overall.

Drives of 500 yards or longer are extremely rare in major tour play. Louis Oosthuizen hammered a 500-yard, cart path-aided drive in 2013 at the Ballantine's Championship on the then-European Tour.

Zhou entered the tournament ranked No. 247 in the world and has played in 12 DP World Tour events this season. According to the tour's website, he is averaging 304.14 yards off the tee this season, the 61st-longest average on the tour.
