Good Good Golf out as PGA Tour event title sponsor amid ad backlash - ESPN

ATLANTA — Good Good Golf is stepping away from its sponsorship of a PGA Tour tournament in November, the tour announced Thursday.

The decision came about two hours after golf equipment manufacturer Callaway announced it has ended its relationship with Good Good Golf, effectively immediately, following backlash from a video advertisement that depicts a man shoving a woman to the ground.

«We recognize that we have work to do as an organization, and our focus right now is on our team, our culture and ensuring we learn from this situation,» Good Good said in a statement posted to its social media accounts. «We are grateful for our relationship with the PGA Tour and appreciate their partnership over the years. We remain committed to earning back trust, and we hope to work together in the future.»

The PGA Tour said the tournament would be played as scheduled from Nov. 12-15 at Omni Barton Creek Resort & Spa in Austin, Texas. The tour plans to provide an update on a sponsor later.

«We agree with their decision to use this time to focus on their organization and the work ahead,» the PGA Tour's statement said. «The PGA Tour believes in golf's ability to bring people together and create a welcoming environment for all.»

In a statement posted to its social media accounts, Callaway admitted its internal review process wasn't comprehensive enough, which is why the company reposted the Good Good video, and has made «appropriate internal corrective actions.»

Callaway said it is also donating $1 million to support organizations that work to prevent domestic violence against women and support survivors.
