WWE WrestleMania 38: Ronda Rousey was 'furious' after being told she wasn't main eventing
Last night at WWE WrestleMania 38, Charlotte Flair defended her SmackDown Women’s Championship in a match against Ronda Rousey.
The match saw Flair pin Rousey to retain her title, which came as a surprise to many fans online, who expected Ronda to win.
And now, a new report has emerged, suggesting that Ronda was “furious” about her position on the WrestleMania card.
Bryan Alvarez explained on Wrestling Observer Live that Rousey thought she was going to be main eventing the show, but that honour went to Stone Cold Steve Austin and Kevin Owens.
Alvarez spoke about how he was told that Rousey was “furious” at WWE for changing their plans, explaining that she even walked out on Friday and wasn’t at the Hall of Fame.
“Ronda thought that she was going on last. She wasn’t. The Kevin Owens Show was going on last. And when she found out she was furious, I was told. One person who knows her, so I presume that this is true, said she was so mad Friday that she walked out. So she wasn’t at the Hall of Fame.
Thankfully, “cooler heads prevailed”, and Rousey did show up at WrestleMania, but the report states that she was angry that she didn’t main event the show.
Cooler heads prevailed, I guess, and she showed up today. … She was ANGRY that they did not go on last.”
Of course, the initial plan was for Rousey and Flair to close the show, but those plans changed when Stone Cold agreed to wrestle his final match.
