WWE WrestleMania 38: Ric Flair calls shock match 'the greatest' he's ever seen

Last night at WWE WrestleMania 38 night one, Charlotte Flair defended her SmackDown Women’s Championship against Ronda Rousey.

The WrestleMania match didn’t go as many people expected it to go, as while many thought Rousey would pick up the win, it was actually Flair who walked out of Dallas with the title.

After getting a visual pin and submission victory over Flair after a ref bump, Rousey was hit with a big boot by her opponent, which saw the match come to an end.

The match wasn’t bad by any means, but certainly wasn’t the match of the night, but Ric Flair seems to disagree.

Taking to Twitter, Ric said that Flair v Rousey was the “greatest women’s match” he’s ever seen. The Hall of Famer congratulated the pair on “changing the game” too:

The Greatest Women’s Wrestling Match I’ve Ever Seen! So Real & Authentic! Thank You @RondaRousey & @MsCharlotteWWE For Changing The Game! WOOOOO! #WrestleMania

What makes this interesting is that many people actually preferred Bianca Belair’s match with Becky Lynch on the show, feeling as if it was the best match on the entire show.

In fact, the online chatter at the same seemed to suggest that Flair’s match with Rousey last night wasn’t even the best match that the pair have had together.

Many fans felt, as they expressed online after the match, that Charlotte and Ronda actually had a better match at Survivor Series in 2018, making Ric’s comments even more confusing.

The finish to Flair and Rousey’s match is definitely going to lead to another bout at some point in the future, potentially even next month at WrestleMania Backlash.

For more news on what the future holds for both Ronda Rousey and Charlotte Flair as we head out of WrestleMania, make sure you stay tuned to GiveMeSport.
