WWE Royal Rumble: Pitch for Mustafa Ali in men's match revealed

There was a pitch that never came to fruition from an unnamed WWE Superstar to have Mustafa Ali eliminate them from the 2022 men’s Royal Rumble.

Former 205 Live star Mustafa Ali requested his release from WWE in January 2022, but that request has yet to be accepted.

For what it’s worth, reports have indicated that WWE has “no intention” of releasing Mustafa Ali, feeling that the 35-year-old has “value” for the company.

Despite this, Ali hasn’t appeared on TV since October of last year, and there is no word on whether or not Vince McMahon plans on bringing him back anytime soon.

However, it seems like members of the WWE roster do want to see Mustafa Ali return to TV soon, as one even pitched for him to be involved in the Royal Rumble match.

Fightful Select is reporting that one WWE Superstar pitched that Ali would eliminate him from the men’s match on Saturday evening. For those that didn’t watch the show, that didn’t end up happening.

When the unnamed wrestler brought up the pitch to WWE higher-ups they were asked if Ali would even be interested in taking part.

Based on a tweet he put out on Saturday during the day, which you can check out below, it seems like Ali was asked to be in the match by WWE, and was not interested in taking part.

As of right now, there is no word on whether or not WWE intends on changing its mind and letting Mustafa Ali leave anytime soon, but based on reports, it doesn’t seem that way.
