WWE: Kane’s guest commentary appearance in 2000 is still so surreal

WWE Superstars can be deployed in a range of different ways, mainly in the ring fighting it out with colleagues, but also delivering promos and backstage encounters.

However, another job they have been given is guest commentary stints for certain matches, providing fans with incredible insight but also offering unreal entertainment as they enjoy the matches on offer.

So back in 2000, when Kane came into the arena before a huge Tag Team Titles match and walked over to the announcer table, fans watching at home knew they were about to witness something special when The Big Red Machine sat down with the headphones on.

Fans were treated to a special night of action, with The Rock guest commentating on a match involving Kane, with the latter returning the favour for a star studded tag team matchup.

The Undertaker and The Rock teamed up to take on the current tag team champions Edge and Christian, with the titles on the line.

Kane was making his guest commentary debut, with his character coming through perfectly on comms, although he later ditched the headset to battle with his brother, The Undertaker, preventing The American Badass from helping his teammate The Rock, ultimately failing in their bid to take the tile.

Such a star studded lineup in the ring deserved to have someone like Kane on commentary, who wasn’t afraid to give his opinions on the Superstars in the ring, especially on his brother and his partner on the night, The Rock, who was the WWF champion at the time.

Jim Ross was petrified on commentary when Kane initially approached him, although he warmed up to him, welcoming him to the desk, asking him plenty of questions on the air to help the fans learn more about Kane.
