WWE Draft: Date revealed for 2022 brand swap

The 2022 WWE Draft will be held slightly earlier this year, according to a new report.

For the past three years, WWE have traditionally hosted their annual draft in October, often making Survivor Series’ Raw vs. SmackDown theme being watered down thanks to those Superstars who have only just moved brands.

Last year it ran from October 1 and October 4 across both shows, but Ringside News is reporting that WWE has the drafted pencilled in internally for September.

September is already a huge month for WWE having already announced last month that are set to hold their first UK stadium show in the UK for thirty years, Cardiff’s Clash At The Castle, and now it looks set to add to the schedule by including the annual draft.

Last year’s draft saw Drew McIntyre move from Raw to SmackDown, NXT call-ups for Austin Theory, Aliyah and Ridge Holland as well as the two women’s champions, Becky Lynch and Charlotte Flair, swapping brands. Leading to their infamous belt swap segment that saw Flair go off script on her former friend.

WWE first spilt the two brands in 2002, following the fallout from the purchase of WCW and the bloated WWE roster. Since then there has been sixteen drafts across the three shows.

With Roman Reigns holding both world championships, and in the wake of WrestleMania where a plethora of Superstars have swapped shows to promote the event, many fans have questioned ending the brand spilt altogether. However, this doesn’t seem the plan as of right now.
