WWE 2K22 render possibly reveals scrapped gimmick for Elias

Elias hasn’t been seen on WWE TV in quick some time, some rather interesting new information has come to light about his status.

Elias hasn’t been seen on WWE TV since July 19 of last year, with there being no word on a potential return for the former NXT star.

In December, WrestleVotes reported that Elias was set to return with a look similar to Macho Man Randy Savage.

However, the report noted that Vince McMahon and other higher-ups within WWE didn’t like the new gimmick and look, so the idea was scrapped.

A new render of Elias appear yesterday on the official WWE 2K22 roster page, the former WWE Raw star was seen sporting new gear.

Elias was wearing more colourful trunks and wrist cuffs, which was likely the gimmick he was supposed to debut upon his return, before it was scrapped.

The 2K render of Elias for 2K22 has seemingly showed off the ‘Randy Savage-esque’ gear/gimmick he was supposed to debut last year. If I’m not mistaken, @WrestleVotes reported this last year pic.twitter.com/kg8XVaRZdf

There is no word, as of right now, on the plans that WWE has for Elias to make his long-awaited return to WWE.

It’s also unclear with what gimmick Elias is going to be returning to TV, but as time passes by, it seems more and more unlikely he’ll come back to either Raw or SmackDown with his old ‘drifter’ character.

However, it seems like he could be returning with a new look, as reports have indicated that the 34-year-old was backstage at WWE shows without his signature long hair and beard back in December last year.

The entirely of the WWE 2K22 roster is set to be revealed later
