WWE Hall of Fame: Paul Heyman names former star who should be inducted into 2022 class

Paul Heyman has named the superstar he believes should be inducted into WWE’s Hall of Fame. 

Heyman has worked alongside some the biggest names in the industry across his lengthy career. From his early days managing in WCW, to his fundamental role in the birth and rise of ECW and then his accolades both on and off screen in WWE. 

His industry CV puts him in an ideal position to question which talent he believes should be reward with spot in the WWE Hall of Fame. With The Undertaker already confirmed for the 2022 class, Heyman believes one ECW original should be worthy of being put forward for a future induction. 

Speaking on the Battleground Podcast, Heyman championed the name of former ECW World Champion Sabu as someone he thinks should be placed into WWE’s Hall of Fame.

“I would say Sabu definitely belongs in the WWE Hall Of Fame. Because I think the concepts that Sabu was introducing, were 20 years ahead of its time. And I don’t just mean the breaking of the tables. I mean just the manner in which he performed in the ring was so far ahead of its time that he never got the credit he deserved.”

Sabu was a popular member of the original ECW in the 1990s, become one of only three triple crown ECW champions before Vince McMahon purchased the company’s assets in 2003. Three years later Sabu signed for WWE to be part of the ECW One Night Stand pay-per-view, before being added to the roster of WWE’s version of the ECW brand.  

So far, The Undertaker is the only Superstar to be announced for the 2022 Hall of Fame class, and it was revealed on Thursday that Vince McMahon himself will induct the WWE legend. The ceremony takes place on 1 April as part of WrestleMania weekend in Dallas.
