"Wouldn't rule that out" – Journalist drops big Levy claim at Tottenham amid Conte summer demand

Tottenham will try and get their summer business done early, but they could also make signings on deadline day, according to journalist Pete O’Rourke.

Antonio Conte has already asked for six players in order to compete in the Premier League and Europe, and O’Rourke failed to rule out the possibility of Daniel Levy waiting until the final hours of the window to deliver.

Tottenham’s summer activity is likely to hinge on whether they qualify for the Champions League or not. Conte’s presence is undoubtedly a major pull for incoming players but finishing in the top four should increase the Italian’s transfer budget and improve their chances of signing their targets.

According to the Telegraph, Conte is expected to tell Levy and Fabio Paratici that he wants a new goalkeeper, a centre-back, a right wing-back, two centre midfielders and an understudy to Harry Kane.

Spurs have already been linked with a host of players ahead of the summer window reopening for business, which would suggest they’re hoping to get new faces through the door in time for pre-season.

But Tottenham’s only two January additions in Rodrigo Bentancur and Dejan Kulusevski weren’t officially announced until the final day of the January window, and with Levy having a history of late deals, O’Rourke reckons that it could happen again in September.

He told GIVEMESPORT: “With Daniel Levy feeling he gets the better part of the deal if he waits to the end, maybe the selling club might be reluctantly selling and at a lower price, so it’s a game of cat and mouse. I don’t think things will change drastically at Tottenham.
