Middlesbrough are keen on Newcastle United defender Jamal Lewis ahead of the summer, Football League World have exclusively revealed.
FLW understands that Lewis could be an early arrival in Chris Wilder’s first summer transfer window as Boro boss.
But would he be a good signing for the Teessiders? And do they need him?

I think it’s worth consideration for Boro, for sure.
Djed Spence could very well be leaving the club in the summer and so finding a player that might be able to provide a similar set of attributes in the coming window is probably quite high on Boro’s list of targets.
Lewis is a good player, he showed that at Norwich, and I am sure that he would be eager to show what he can do once more with the right move.
Chris Wilder will likely think he can get a tune out of him, too, so it’s definitely one worth exploring further.
Adam Jones
This would be a decent signing for quite a few reasons.
First of all, Boro have to watch out for potential departures, with the futures of Neil Taylor and Djed Spence looking uncertain at this stage.
Spence’s return in the summer could force Isaiah Jones out to the left, but with the former the subject of Premier League interest, his likely sale during the next window will leave a void at wing-back that needs to be filled.
