Birmingham City are interested in signing Nottingham Forest striker Lyle Taylor on loan, according to The Athletic.

It is understood that Keinan Davis’ strong start to life at the City Ground means the Reds are prepared to let Taylor leave over the next 24 hours, with the Blues keen to take advantage.

But would he be a good signing for Birmingham? And do they need him?

When you consider that Bowyer worked with Taylor during his time in charge of Charlton, it is hardly a shock that he is looking into the possibility of reuniting with the forward at St Andrew’s.

However, since scoring 35 goals in 67 appearances for the Addicks, Taylor has struggled considerably with his consistency during his stint with Nottingham Forest.

Despite featuring on 61 occasions for the Reds, the forward has only managed to find the back of the net on eight occasions which is an extremely underwhelming total.

Keeping this in mind, it could be argued that the Blues should steer clear of a move for Taylor and switch their focus to signing a forward who has delivered some impressive performances at this level in recent seasons.

I am not entirely sure what to make of this.

For me, the problem at Birmingham City at the moment lies in the creativity department, so I am along the line of thinking that they need to bring a player who can consistently provide chances, before casting their eyes over striking options.
