“Would be a good signing” – Journalist drops "surprised" Tottenham claim on 105-cap superstar

Tottenham Hotspur could make a ‘good signing’ by bringing Gareth Bale back to the club this summer, according to journalist Dean Jones.

Bale is set to depart Real Madrid on a free transfer when his contract expires at the end of the month, but it remains unclear where he will be plying his trade next term.

The 32-year-old’s nine-year stay with Los Blancos is drawing to a close, sparking speculation over where his next move will be, with Getafe president Angel Torres recently claiming that he has been offered the player.

“50 minutes ago, they offered me Bale,” he said. “I have to think about it and talk to the coach, I don’t know if he’s going to come.”

However, the five-time Champions League winner quickly rubbished those claims when he was asked if he had any idea where he will be playing his football next term.

“No (I don’t know), but I’m not going to Getafe, that’s for sure,” Bale replied with a laugh.

And the Daily Mail claim that more than 10 teams have declared their interest in the 105-cap Wales international, with his boyhood club Cardiff City said to be ‘increasingly hopeful’ of pulling off a major coup.

Two Premier League clubs that are believed to be in the market for attacking reinforcement this summer are Aston Villa are Bale’s former club Tottenham.

In an interview with GiveMeSport, Jones stated how the 6 foot wizard would be an astute acquisition for Spurs before revealing his surprise that the north London outfit and Villa aren’t pursuing a deal.

He told GMS: “I think it would be a good signing for Tottenham. They’re not in for him, but Bale ticks everything that Tottenham are looking for right now and would be another forward to that line.
