"Would be a disaster" - Journalist reacts after surprise Tottenham exit rumour emerges

Tottenham Hotspur would be facing up to a ‘disaster’ if Fabio Paratici leaves his key behind-the-scenes role for Paris Saint-Germain, according to journalist Dean Jones.

The 49-year-old headed to north London last summer, having enjoyed a spell as the director of football with Italian giants Juventus.

Paratici was unveiled as Tottenham’s director of football in June and tasked with playing a key role in assembling a squad which will challenge for silverware.

However, it appears the Italian’s time in north London may be short-lived as, according to TuttoMercatoWeb chief editor Marco Conterio, PSG have contacted Paratici ahead of potentially looking to prise him away from the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium.

Conterio claims the Ligue 1 side are eager to make Paratici the successor to current sporting director Leonardo, who has been working behind-the-scenes in the French capital since 2019, having returned for a second spell.

Journalist Roman Molina has also confirmed PSG are on the lookout for a new sporting director, further emphasising Leonardo’s days at the Parc des Princes are numbered.

However, Paratici is reportedly not interested in leaving Spurs and remains ‘enthusiastic about the long-term project’.

Jones believes Spurs chairman Daniel Levy would be left in a woeful situation if Paratici were to quit Tottenham in favour of heading to PSG.

However, the transfer insider is not expecting the Italian to turn his back on Spurs less than 12 months after penning what is understood to be a three-year deal.
