'Would be a big U-turn' - Spurs journalist sends Daniel Levy warning after report emerges

Tottenham Hotspur chairman Daniel Levy has been sent a warning by The Athletic journalist Jack Pitt-Brooke over the idea of a potential rebuild of the squad at the club following speculation regarding the future of Antonio Conte. 

The north London outfit find themselves in the battle for the last Champions League spot with rivals Arsenal, with Spurs sitting in fifth, only two points behind the Gunners with both only having four games left, including a north London derby between the two.

Spurs have had a resurgence under Conte, but there are fears that if they do not solidify Champions League football for next season, they could lose him, amid rumours of a possible move to Paris Saint-Germain for the Italian manager.

Conte has since rubbished these rumours as ‘fake news’ but despite this, Telegraph journalist Sam Wallace claimed on Twitter: “If Spurs can’t match Conte’s summer rebuild ambitions, both are better off with a parting of the ways. The alternative could be messy.”

However, this idea has been criticised by Pitt-Brooke, who believes this would go against all they have built so far, saying: “It would be a big U-turn I think for Tottenham to go into rebuild mode now (whether under Potter, Pochettino, or someone else).”

TIF Thoughts on a Spurs rebuild…

Spurs have been in terrific form since Conte arrived, having won five of their last seven with huge wins against Newcastle United and Aston Villa, winning 5-1 and 4-0 respectively. They are in a good position to finish in the top four and, therefore, make themselves more attractive to star players who will want to work under Conte and play in Europe’s most prestigious competition.
