Worrying West Brom transfer news emerges as 'brilliant' Baggies man could join promotion rivals

Burnley are reportedly interested in making a move for West Brom centre-back Dara O’Shea, according to a new transfer update from Football League World.

The 23-year-old has stood out as a talented young player at the Hawthorns in recent years, proving to be an influential figure at the heart of the defence.

O’Shea was admittedly limited to just 12 Championship starts last season but he still managed to win three Man of the Match awards from WhoScored in that time, with an ankle break putting paid to a chunk of his playing time.

While West Brom will no doubt want to keep hold of O’Shea, a new update suggests he could move on to pastures new this summer.

According to Football League World, Burnley are interested in signing the Republic of Ireland international, having lost key centre-back Nathan Collins to Wolves.

O’Shea’s current Baggies deal expires next year, meaning this could be the last opportunity for them to avoid losing him on a free transfer.

At 23, O’Shea has so many years ahead of him and should be considered a huge player for Steve Bruce’s long-term plans, so the thought of him leaving now is a worrying one.

Slaven Bilic once hailed the Irishman as ‘brilliant’ and his performances last season were proof of his quality, as he won a monstrous average of 4.6 aerial duels per game in the league.

With both West Brom and Burnley pushing for promotion to the Premier League this season, O’Shea moving to Turf Moor would arguably be a sideways step, but it remains to be seen if his head will be turned.
