'Worrying...' - Sky Sports man claims 'brilliant' Celtic ace may now have suffered 'bone damage'

Injury expert Ben Dinnery has claimed it is possible that Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic has suffered ‘bone damage’, Football Insider report.

Rogic was on the receiving end of a nasty challenge from Ross County’s Kayne Ramsay on the weekend and had to be replaced as a result.

Ange Postecoglou was hopeful that the attacking midfielder would still be able to represent his country, however, Rogic ended up withdrawing from the squad due to his ankle problem.

Daizen Maeda has also remained in Glasgow instead of representing Japan due to concerns with his fitness.

Dinnery, who contributes for Sky Sports, was talking to Football Insider specifically about Rogic. He said that the 29-year-old’s injury may be worse than first feared, stating the ‘worst-case scenario is that there could be bone damage revealed by an X-ray’.

“It’s a difficult one.

“Sometimes players will withdraw from their national team but miraculously recover in time for their next domestic fixture.

“But to give some context, there is a massive disparity between those who withdraw from competitive and non-competitive games.

“Australia are involved in World Cup qualifiers. That in itself is a worrying indication we may be looking at something more serious than first thought.

“If it was an impact injury, it could be heavy bruising or a contusion around that ankle. In that case, it could be a case of pain management.

“That would be around that 10 to 14-day period. But the worst-case scenario is that there could be bone damage revealed by an X-ray.”

Celtic face rivals Rangers in a crucial Glasgow Derby straight after the international break, so Postecoglou will be desperate to have his best players available for the trip to Ibrox.
