World Cup opening ceremony Live updates: Start time, TV channel and full list of performers

After what seems like an eternity waiting, the World Cup finally gets under way today.

Hosts Qatar face Ecuador in the opening match of the tournament, with kick-off scheduled for 4pm UK time. Beforehand, though, there will be the traditional opening ceremony.

Robbie Williams, Canadian actress Nora Fatehi and K-Pop star Jungkook, who is part of the band BTS, are set to perform at the extravaganza.
