Women's Super League permutations: How Chelsea or Arsenal could win the title

After a thrilling season in the Women’s Super League, it’s all come down to the last weekend of matches. 

It was confirmed earlier this week that Birmingham City would be relegated to the Women’s Championship, but much is still undecided at the top of the table. 

Chelsea are leading by just one point, with Arsenal desperate for The Blues to slip up on the last day of the season.

The final qualifying spot for the Champions League will go to either Manchester City or Manchester United. Again, this will all depend on the results on Sunday.

This one is fairly simple. For The Blues to win their third consecutive WSL title, all they have to do is defeat Manchester United at Kingsmeadow. 

A draw or loss could also be enough, but this would be completely dependent on how Arsenal fare against West Ham. 

If the Gunners want to claim their first WSL title since 2019, they have to rely on Chelsea dropping points against Manchester United. 

If the Blues draw or lose to the Red Devils, a victory against West Ham would be enough to propel Arsenal to the top of the table. 

If Chelsea draw and Arsenal draw, the Blues will receive the WSL trophy. But if Chelsea lose and Arsenal draw, the Gunners would be league winners due to their superior goal difference. 

Despite a poor start to the WSL this season, Manchester City are now on the brink of finishing third and qualifying for the Champions League. 

All they have to do is win or draw against Reading. If they lose, it will all come down to Manchester United’s result against Chelsea.
