Women's National League round-up: Treaty United Shels-shocked in 10-0 rout

The SSE Airtricity Women's National League returned from the mid-season break on Saturday, with leaders Shelbourne picking up where they left off by collecting three more points in a 10-0 annihilation of Treaty United.

Three injuries wrecked any hopes Treaty United might have had of causing an upset against the league leaders.

Alannah Mitchell didn't even make the kick-off while Shannon Parbat and Esra Kangal, who required extensive treatment, were subbed out of the Treaty line-up in the opening half hour.

Shelbourne had opened the scoring in the fourth minute when Jemma Quinn fired past Trish Fennelly-Hunt, and full-back Leah Doyle blasted in a second five minutes later.

Two from Noelle Murray, either side of an own goal, and a free header by Pearl Slattery in added time made it 6-0 at the turnaround.

Shels rang the changes and made three substitutions at half-time and, inevitably, there was less intensity in the second period.

The Reds continued to dominate, however, and Quinn completed her hat-trick with goals on 59 and 66 minutes.

Murray also completed her hat-trick and then added her fourth in the later stages of the game, completing a miserable afternoon for the Limerick side, who ultimately went down by double figures.

Athlone Town and Cork City played out a 0-0 draw in a game that won't live long in the memory.
