Woman who alleges ex sent her explicit video of herself she had no idea existed told case won't go to court

A woman who alleges her ex sent her an explicit video of herself - which she had no idea he'd taken- has spoken of her anger after being told the case won't go to court.

The 43-year-old, from Salford, alleges she is the victim of voyeurism. She made a complaint to police in January and her former partner was arrested.

She claims she was told it's 'her word against his' and that the case wouldn't be going to court. Charges against the man, Greater Manchester Police said, are not being brought as there is 'insufficient evidence'.

The woman, who cannot be named for legal reasons, also claims an officer involved in her case repeatedly called her 'mate'. She told the Manchester Evening News: "The PC phoned me and said it was my word against his. He called me 'mate' three times on the phone.

"I'm not your mate, I'm not a random woman in the pub." The woman says an apology from the officer was passed on via a senior cop after she complained about his language.

The complaint centres on an allegation the woman's ex-boyfriend took an explicit video of her without her consent and sent it to her years later, after their relationship had ended. "I feel really s***t," she added.

After breaking up with the man a few years ago, the woman claims she heard from him again last year. "I received a picture from another number of his privates," she added. "The caption was 'this is yours and always has been yours'."

She claims 'three or four months' later, at the beginning of 2023, she got another video. The woman said it showed herself performing a sex act. "I had no knowledge of the video," she claimed. "He'd had it for years."
